Start with an idea
What would I like to make? Who could it help?
Spark the curiosity. Build something useful. Take ownership of a real product. A connected journey through Spark, Builder and Ninja.
Spark, Builder and Ninja take children from playful first encounters with AI to creating for real people and running a product of their own. Across Years 1–12, each level adds capability, independence and responsibility.
Curiosity gets something to work on. Children play with patterns, give instructions and make their first creations. They meet AI early by showing it examples, trying its answers and noticing where it gets things wrong.
“Follow the sound of the river,” it read.
Signature outcome: Teaches an AI to sort pictures — in Year 2
An idea becomes useful to someone else. Children find a need, plan a solution and build websites, apps and games for real people. They learn to listen to feedback and improve what they have made.
Signature outcome: Launches a website for a real school club
Students take responsibility for the whole product. They set a direction, brief AI agents, review the work and test it with real users. Then they improve the experience and present what they have learned publicly.
Check the work. Think of the users.
Signature outcome: Runs a product with 8+ real users and presents it publicly
The outcome matters. So does the thinking that gets a child there.
What would I like to make? Who could it help?
What needs to happen? How can I break it down?
Does it do what I wanted? Where does it go wrong?
What could I change? What did I learn?
Children learn to explain an idea, give clear instructions, test a result and recognise when something needs to change. Those capabilities remain useful when today’s tools look very different.
AI is part of the journey from Spark, where children teach it to sort pictures in Year 2. Builder connects making to real needs. By Ninja, students direct AI agents, learn from real users and take responsibility for a product.
